DIY PRATICE HENNA HAND!!

Hi Everyone!
So its been a minute  ( :: cough:: 2 years) since I have added anything my blog. Lifeeee. I'm backkkk (at least for now hehe)
------------------------------
Recently, I have started to follow quite a few henna artist on Instagram. Striving to become a better henna artist myself, it is wonderful to get tips and inspiration from the global henna community via social media.
Many of henna artist are using this thing called "Acrylic Practice Hand for Henna".
Basically, it is a  hard surfaced board in the shape of a hand. This is perfect for practicing henna, especially if you're running out of places to henna on yourself lol XD. It is great to practice out ideas, take a picture of different works, wipe it off and move on to the next.

I realllly wanted a acrylic hand to practice on! I was very close to purchasing a $25 one online. However, being me I didn't want to spend the money for a hand board lol.
And so I found a solution to my problem, Here is it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIY Practice Hand for HENNA

1. Purchase flexible cutting boards --I got a set for $1 at 99 cent store ^.^
Forget cutting your veggies, let's practice some henna!! woop woop
Honestly you can just practice on these without doing anything to it.  I purchase clear ones because I wanted to turn them white. Also you can simply purchase the opaques colored ones.
My table is black so clear isn't the smartest choice to view my work, which mean I'm going to have to put white paper under it.

2. Grab a piece of paper & a pen/pencil.

Now to create your hand, you can do one of two things.
1) print a outline of a hand ( simply google it)--if you want a perfect hand
2) you have a hand!! why not use it? lol
I went with #2.
I went old school and traced my tiny hand ( makes sense since i'm tiny in general)

Good job! Now you have yourself an outline.  We are going to use this outline to cut our flexible cutting board.
Now you might ask, why didn't I simply trace my hand on to board itself? Good questions! I at the time for whatever reason thought this process would be easier if I did it like this.

So in retrospect...

For all my short cutters, simply trace your hand on to the cutting board and cut out your hand shape.

For my fellow instruction followers, let's go on with my madness shall we?

3.  Grab tape, scissor and your outline.
On we shall!
Simply tape on your outline so it doesn't move while you cut it out.
Then cut!

TAAAAA DAAAAAA!!

We did it! That was easy rit? rit???? =.=

 4. Paint it! I used a acrylic paint on one side only.

Confession time!
So it has been a few days since I made these and I have to note that my paint did in fact peel off, this is because I wash the hand a few times. If you just wipe off your henna, it shouldn't be an issue. If it is, try a paint that works well on plastic. Or like I said purchase colored flexible cutting board.

Don't I keep it real? =)

I LOVEEEEEE  IT!

Lets get our HENNA ONNN
( Does anyone else hear Get your Freak on by Missy Elliott playing in the background?? If you do,  we are kindred souls lol)

Here is a little taste of my work. Yeaaaaa go ahead say it, It ain't baddd. Lol

DIY: STONE RING/STUDS

Hello!
During october I went with my family to a beach on long island that was covered in stones, no sand.
I collected a few flat stones and decided to do this easy DIY jewelry project.

Since the stone are pretty plain I wanted to add a something to make it a little more unique.
I end up using nail polish to paint on simple patterns.
Then I simply used E6000 glue to add the ring blank and earring blanks.  ^.^

Week's Salad To Go

I'm sure you've seen salads in mason jars but they are so heavy!
Instead I opt for plastic containers because they are lighter and cheaper.
So hit the 99 cent store and grab some. (usually 4 for $1)

How to build a salad in containers

Top layer 5 : Greens
Spinach, arugula, lettuce, or mix greens

Layer 4: Protein
Grilled chicken, quinoa

Layer 3: Veggies +
Tomatoes, avocadoes, mushroom, broccoli, oranges, corn, nuts

Layer 2: Moisture resistant vegetable
Cucumber, carrots, peas, beans, radish, bell peppers

Bottom Layer 1: Dressing of  choice

Make it in bulk and refrigerate.
When you're ready to eat, just shake and enjoy!
